A Countable and uncountable nouns

Countable nouns
We can use a or an in front of countable nouns:在可数名词前可用a或an
Please boil an egg for me.
Countable nouns have a plural:可数名词有复数形式：
Please boil some eggs for me.(some=’a number of ‘)
Eggs have gone up again.I like eggs.(=’eggs in general’:no article)
Uncountable nouns
We cannot use a or an in front of uncountable nouns and they don’t have a plural:
在不可数名词前不可使用a或an,不可数名词也没有复数形式：
Please give me some bread.(some=’a quantity of’)
Bread is a basic food.I like bread.(=’bread in genera;’)
Nouns which are countable or uncountable
Some nouns can be countable or uncountable:有些名词既可作为可数名词也可作为不可数名词：
Please give me a chicken.(=’a whole bird’)
Please give me some chicken.(=’part of the whole’)
Coffee is expensive.I like coffee.(=’coffee in general’)
I’d like a coffee,please.(=’one cup of coffee’)
