in the course of ：在…过程中；在…期间
in course of ：正在…之中,在…的过程中
例：
1.A new science was in course of development.
一门新的学科正处于发展之中.
2.in the course of time；In the course of my schooling

在这段时间过程中 在我的求学过程中
经过对比可以发现：
in the course of
更强调在一大段时间内的过程 不强调现在的状态、
只说明了这段时间的状态
而in course of 侧重于强调“正在…之中”
强调现在的状态 现在的进行的过程
其实这两个词组差别不算很大 几乎可以通用的
